Further EASA STC / 100 Diesel Aircraft / New Sales Partner

Lichtenstein/Germany - The Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH (TAE), a member of the Thielert Group, started successfully in the year 2004. The EASA issued further supplemental type certifications for the installation of the diesel aircraft engine CENTURION 1.7 in Cessna 172. Additionally the service and support net has been spreaded over the Netherlands and Belgium.

EASA extends Supplemental Type Certification for CENTURION installation to Cessna 172 R and S

On 26 January 2004, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) extended the existing Supplemental Type Certification (STC) of the CENTURION 1.7 Retrofit-Kit to include models Cessna 172 R and S. As such, the STC is now valid for all the Cessnas 172 K, L, M, N, P, R and S manufactured in France and the US within all the member states of the EASA. With models R and S, the installation of the 28V variant of the CENTURION 1.7 in the Cessna 172 was also certified. Two new aircraft of the R and S series have already been commissioned with the CENTURION 1.7. At present, a further R series is undergoing retrofitting. TAE expects the STC to be issued for the Piper PA28 Warrior III and Cadet in the near future.

100 aircraft fly with CENTURION 1.7

By the end of the year 2003, some 100 plus General Aviation aircraft were flying with the CENTURION 1.7 diesel/jet fuel aircraft engine from TAE. The engine is proving to be both reliable and highly economical in terms of fuel consumption in all the aircraft. Within the scope of the Life Extension Programme designed to extend the 'time between replacement' (TBR), a total of some 22,000 plus flying hours have been notched up in these aircraft.

For the successful DA40-D, the company Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH has thus far issued two Service Bulletins, the first of which focused on the improvement of the fuel supply system from the airframe to the engine. The second Service Bulletin related to the Diamond-specific installation of the wiring loom.

New sales partner for CENTURION 1.7 in Holland and Belgium

The company Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH (TAE) is constantly extending the sales and service network for the CENTURION engines. Consequently, for Holland and Belgium, Aviation Technics B.V. will be looking after sales and service for TAE in future. This includes the conversion of existing aircraft by means of retrofits.
